Southport Marsh Walk - Margaret Rudd & Associates

If you're touring our Southport homes for sale, you'll want to be sure you check out everything else that makes the coastal area a fabulous place to live. With over 30 years' experience in Brunswick County, Our REALTORS® can tell you the Carolina coast is one of our country's most charming areas to live.

Its history, cuisine, and the natural areas for recreation and relaxation are among the best anywhere. And everything comes together in Southport. One of the hidden gems of Southport you won't want to miss is our Marsh Walk

Take in Coastal Views on Southport's Marsh Walk

The entrance to the Marsh Walk is located on Brunswick Street between boat docks. The 1/8-mile boardwalk can accommodate visitors any time, and it's accessible during both high and low tide.

You can explore the area without having to get your feet wet or trek through mud, as the boardwalk extends out into the salt marsh. It's an excellent opportunity to connect with nature and appreciate the coastal salt marshes that are such an essential part of the ecosystem here in North Carolina.

The marsh grasses offer protection for a variety of birds and fish, and many species use the area for nesting and feeding. In the muddy areas, you can see coastal inhabitants such as small fish, fiddler crabs, and maybe even some oysters, mussels, clams, and snails. Herons, egrets, and gulls are native to the area and can often be seen among the marsh grasses.

If you're not in the mood to watch the wildlife, no problem. The marsh walk is still a great place to go for a walk and to enjoy being outdoors. There are several spots along the way that offer picturesque views of Southport and the nearby islands and rivers. And if you'd like to relax and take a break in a little shade, there is a gazebo where you can enjoy the view.

Don't forget to stop by in the evening to see downtown Southport and the nearby towns lit up and glowing. The marsh walk is the perfect place for a romantic stroll under the moonlight.
