A Sea of History
As one of North Carolina's three state-sponsored maritime museums, the NC Maritime Museum at Southport highlights the history of the lower Cape Fear River. Their collection of artifacts display the history of the area dating back nearly 2,000 years. Exhibits on the history of maritime life, as well as relics from Southport life from the age of piracy through the Civil War and beyond, have made the NC Maritime Museum a treasured local landmark that visitors and locals cherish.
