Brunswick County Picnic Spots - Margaret Rudd & Associates

Summer will be here before you know it, and our REALTORS® are excited about all the possibilities that warm weather brings to the Brunswick County, NC area. This quiet, picturesque region along the Carolina coast offers ample opportunities to experience the outdoors.

If you're looking for some fun in the sun this season, start with one of these Brunswick County Parks. They're some of our favorite places to enjoy the outdoors, and since July is National Picnic Month, you might want to bring some friends and family along—not to mention some hamburgers and hot dogs!

  1. Waterfront Park – 146-176 E. Bay St., Southport, NC
The name says it all. This 9-acre park just a few blocks away from numerous Southport homes for sale is the ultimate place to enjoy the sights and sounds of Brunswick County's waterfront. Waterfront Park overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway and the Cape Fear River, making it a mecca for fishing, as well as watching the fishing boats coming and going from port. Ample picnic tables, park benches, picnic shelters, and grills make it a perfect picnic spot as well, and with a little luck at the park's fishing pier, you might just find yourself catching lunch.
  2. Middleton Park – 133 SE 48th St., Oak Island, NC
Thanks to its central location near these Oak Island homes for sale, this shady, secluded park has become the heart of the Oak Island community. Middleton Park offers a playground, picnic shelters, tennis and pickleball courts, soccer and softball fields, and an ample open park area. Plus, in addition to being a great picnic spot, Middleton Park is just footsteps away from the beach, and hosts numerous festivals and events throughout the year.

  3. Kingsley Street Park – Kingsley Street, Southport, NC
Well off the beaten path, Kingsley Street Park is a small park along the Intracoastal Waterway. It's a great spot for anybody looking for a cozy picnic spot away from the crowds. Although amenities here are limited, Kingsley Street Park makes up for it with a serene, garden-like environment, with grassy lawns, picturesque trees, and docks along the waterfront. The park also offers sweeping views across the Cape Fear River to the islands beyond.

  4. Dutchman Creek Park– 4750 Fish Factory Road SE, Southport, NC
One of the great outdoor resources in the Brunswick County area, Dutchman Creek Park spans 30 acres, much of it only lightly developed, making it a great place to spend some time exploring. Picnic and playground facilities are available for family get-togethers and cook-outs, and Dutchman Creek Park is a popular spot for fishing as well. Located along the meandering waters of Dutchman Creek, this park is also an ideal place to launch a canoe or kayak, with many miles of nearby waterways ripe for exploration.
