Southport, NC Oyster Bars - Margaret Rudd & Assoicates

Are you considering a move to Southport? If so, you'll probably be spending some time in town shopping our great selection of Southport homes for sale. Given the beauty of the area and its coastlines, it would be a shame to make that visit all about business. You'd certainly be missing out if you didn't make time to sample the local cuisine while you're here, most especially the fresh seafood for which our area is known. If you're particularly partial to oysters, you'll find them in abundance at local eateries, including these 5 Southport restaurants:

  1. Moore Street Oyster Bar, 110 E. Moore St., Southport
    A very popular and modern eatery, Moore Street Oyster Bar offers a great selection of delicious oyster creations. If you have trouble choosing among them, you can try them all by ordering their generous sample platter, which features two of every hot-topped oyster variety on the menu.

  2. Olivers On the Cape Fear, 101 W Bay St, Southport
    Another favorite stop for local oyster lovers is Olivers On the Cape Fear. Here you can choose from oysters on the half shell, Classic Oysters Rockefeller, Sriracha Garlic Parmesan Oysters, and Oysters Casino to satisfy your oyster craving, or have your oysters with a variety of other delectable seafood by ordering the Calabash "Cape Fear" Platter. Oyster Po'boys are also on the menu, featuring fried oysters on a hoagie bun, topped with lettuce, tomato and firecracker sauce.

  3. Ports Of Call, 116 N Howe St, Southport
    Ports of Call is a great place to stop off for lunch if you're craving oysters. This popular local eatery's lunch menu features a lovely fried oyster meal, served with a lemon dill dipping sauce.

  4. Mr P's Bistro, 309 N Howe St, Southport
    Mr P's Bistro is another local restaurant that knows how to do oysters right. You'll find Oysters Bienville on the menu, which is freshly shucked oysters topped with topped with shrimp, shallots, garlic, mushrooms and parsley in a sherry sauce and baked on the half shell, as well as Oysters Rockefeller, which is freshly shucked oysters topped with spinach, bacon, cheese, shallots, and roasted red pepper hollandaise and baked on the half shell.

  5. Frying Pan, 319 W Bay St, Southport
    The Frying Pan is well known for its Southern Style seafood, including oysters. You can order your oysters alone, in their shrimp and oyster plate, or in their popular Galley Combo, which features fish, shrimp, oysters, bay scallops and crab cakes.
