Missed the beach so far this year? Take a day to visit one of these Brunswick County Beaches.

It may be August, but there's still plenty of summer left in Southport! Besides, here on the North Carolina coast, it's always a good day to enjoy some time at the beach.

When you're in the mood for sun and sand, you don't have to go far in the Southport area. Our real estate agents are thrilled to share some of their favorite beaches in Brunswick County, NC.

  • Caswell Beach - 251NB037, Oak Island, NC 28465
Located on the picturesque Oak Island, Caswell Beach is a quiet spot that offers over 2 miles of sandy dunes. Facing south toward the Atlantic Ocean, this beach is a great place to relax and listen to the sound of the waves and the seagulls overhead. The Oak Island Lighthouse and the historic Fort Caswell are just footsteps down the beach, which also includes a picturesque boardwalk and plenty of public parking. The beach is just minutes from these Oak Island homes for sale, and offers a quiet getaway far from noise and crowds.

  • South Beach - Bald Head Island, NC 28461
South Beach is one of several beaches that total more than 14 miles of sand and surf on Bald Head Island. It's a beautiful spot, and because Bald Head Island is one of the more remote spots in the Southport area — it's accessible only by ferry — the beach doesn't tend to get too crowded. Bald Head Island is also a great place for nature lovers, as much of the island is encompassed within the Bald Head Island State Natural Area. South Beach is within walking distance of the Natural Area, as well as these Bald Head Island homes for sale.

  • Holden Beach - 805 Ocean Blvd W, Holden Beach, NC 28462
Named one of America's best family beaches by National Geographic Traveler, Holden Beach is a great place for swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing for shells, sand dollars, and sharks' teeth. Overlooking the ocean in the small community of the same name, Holden Beach is also a popular fishing spot thanks to the Holden Beach Fishing Pier. It's located a stone's throw from these Holden Beach homes for sale, and offers a relaxing getaway that families return to year after year.

  • Ocean Isle Beach - 1 W First St, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469
Ocean Isle Beach is a popular vacation spot, with public access to the beach up and down the coastline. It's a perfect place to take a swim, soak up some sun, and do a bit of treasure hunting. Like a lot of beaches on the North Carolina coast, Ocean Isle Beach is also home to loggerhead sea turtle nesting sites, and summer visitors have an opportunity to spot the hatchling sea turtles as they make their way back to the ocean. You'll also find numerous Ocean Isle Beach homes for sale nearby.

  • Waterfront Park - 146-176 E Bay St, Southport, NC 28461
With its location along the Cape Fear River, the rocky beach at Southport's Waterfront Park isn't exactly a prime swimming spot. But it's a hub for a variety of other activities, including beachcombing, dog walking, sightseeing, and fishing. In fact, the adjacent Southport Fishing Pier is one of the best places to wet a line near these Southport homes for sale. Waterfront Park is also just footsteps away from all the shops and eateries of Downtown Southport and is a popular kayak launch site.
