No need to hide indoors! There are plenty of fun things to do in Brunswick County this haunted season.

Fall is upon us in the Southport area, and that can only mean one thing... Halloween is not far behind! The arrival of autumn brings not only some of the best weather of the year on the North Carolina coast but some of the spookiest and most fun-filled fall events. If you're looking for ways to enjoy the season in Brunswick County, then you're in luck. Our real estate agents are here to share their favorite spooky fall events!

  • Brunswick Little Theatre - 8068 River Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461
You can always count on the Brunswick Little Theatre to put on a good show. Operated as a nonprofit, the theatre features a talented troupe of local actors and actresses who typically put on several productions every year. This fall you can catch James and the Giant Peach, which has eight showings in October, followed by Miracle on Division Street in December, just in time for Christmas! The theatre is just minutes from these Southport homes for sale and has become a crucial part of the local community.

  • Haunted Swamp Tours - 5550-1 Watts Rd SW, Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469
Offering one of the most exhilarating experiences of the fall season, Haunted Swamp Tours promises to get your blood pumping just in time for Halloween. Based out of Shallotte River Swamp Park in Ocean Isle Beach, the tours include terrifying aerial zip line tours in pitch blackness, along with spooky tours of the swamps below. Honestly, is there anything scarier than a swamp at night? Find out at Haunted Swamp Tours every weekend from Oct. 12th through Nov. 3rd.

  • Bald Head After Dark - 700 Federal Rd, Bald Head Island, NC 28461
Bald Head After Dark tours are held on many dates throughout the various seasons, but there's no better time to experience the sights, sounds, and creatures that populate the island at night! Led by expert guides from the Bald Head Island Conservancy, you'll venture out into the darkness of Bald Head Island in search of alligators, frogs, deer, and other animals and learn a bit about the tools and techniques wildlife experts use to find them.

  • Old Smithville Burying Ground - 401 E Moore St, Southport, NC 28461
You might notice the Old Smithville Burying Ground as you walk through the streets of Southport. The final resting place of over 1,000 people, this 200-year-old graveyard has grave markers dating back to the 1700s. Anyone can take a self-guided tour of the Old Smithville Burying Ground at any time, free of charge. But it's especially compelling if you can catch one of the regular Living Voices of the Past presentations from the Southport Historical Society (the next event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 23rd, 2021).

  • All In Bloom Garden Center - 1200 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461
If you're looking for a place to stock up on fall decor in Brunswick County, you'd best make a stop at All In Bloom Garden Center. They offer a great variety of plants and decorations year-round, but fall is an especially great time to stop in and pick out your favorite pumpkins, gourds, and squash. All In Bloom Garden Center also hosts a "Customer Appreciation Day" every autumn, complete with all kinds of fall-themed fun and games.
