An outdoor picnic is a perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening. Here is where you'll find the best spots around Southport.

With the warm summer temperatures and bright sunny days, the month of July is an excellent choice for National Picnic Month. It's a fantastic time to pack a basket full of food and beverages while you enjoy the lovely summer weather.

Southport is home to numerous locations that make a terrific spot for your next picnic. Our real estate agents suggest checking out these scenic picnic spots.

  • Southport Waterfront Park
Southport Waterfront Park is a nine-acre park that borders the streets of downtown Southport and the Cape Fear River. This picturesque park offers amazing waterfront views and a refreshing breeze.

There are multiple wooden benches that make a terrific spot for picnicking in the sunshine. Or, if you prefer to picnic in the shade, there are shelters located close to the park's entrance.
  • Lowe-White Memorial Park
Lowe-White Memorial Park is a terrific spot surrounded by woods that's ideal for relaxation and recreational fun. The park has picnic tables and benches that you can use for picnics, or you can take one of the walking trails to find a tranquil spot in the wooded surroundings.

Before you leave, check out the tennis courts or basketball court for a little friendly competition.
  • Franklin Square Park
Franklin Square Park includes a gazebo, park benches, and picnic tables for anyone who wants to picnic or just sit and take in the peaceful atmosphere. The park also includes a small playground.
  • Dutchman Creek Park
Stop by Dutchman Creek Park for a day of fishing and picnicking. With 20 acres of park space, you're sure to find a fantastic location to celebrate National Picnic Month.
  • Caswell Beach
Thanks to the soft, white sand and relaxing waves, Caswell Beach is a terrific location for a beachfront picnic. Take some time off from touring Southport homes for sale and instead bask in the ocean views while enjoying the sights and sounds of the coast.
  • Bald Head Island
Hop on the ferry and take your picnic basket to Bald Head Island. The island is car-free and offers pristine beaches, lush forests, and stunning sand dunes. With so much gorgeous scenery, you can take your pick from a variety of excellent picnicking spots.
  • Holden Beach
Holden Beach combines a small-town atmosphere with large, unspoiled beaches. Grab your beach blanket for a beachfront picnic.

Or, check out one of the charming spots along the Intracoastal Waterway. If you're feeling adventurous, bring your kayak or canoe to picnic while you're on the water.

With so many naturally beautiful spots, Southport is an excellent city to celebrate National Picnic Month. Ready to make Southport your permanent home? Contact us today to start your home search!
