It's hard to beat a classic cheeseburger. Here's where you can find the best in Southport.

National Cheeseburger Day is one of those holidays that our real estate agents can really get behind. We're lucky to have some really exceptional burger restaurants here in the Southport, NC area, and in honor of National Cheeseburger Day on September 18, we're here to share our favorites!

  • Blue Cow Grille - 108 E Moore St, Southport, NC 28461
Some of the best burgers in Southport are served at Blue Cow Grille. This Moore Street favorite is owned and operated by John and Sheila Barbee, the same husband-and-wife team who have been running Dry Street Pub and Pizza — another Southport staple — for more than 20 years. Blue Cow Grille is located just minutes from these Southport homes for sale, and offers 10 different variations of their classic American burger. The "D'Wight Yolk-Um", topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, mayo and a fried egg, is a perennial favorite.

  • Eric's Grille- 1671 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461
Sandwiched between a smoothie joint and an Asian fusion restaurant in a local strip mall, Eric's Grille would be easy to pass right by. But that would be a mistake. This hole-in-the-wall establishment with classic retro-diner vibes serves up some killer comfort food, including some of the best burgers around. The ambiance here are straight out of the 1950s (with prices to match), whether you want a classic hamburger or a fully-loaded double bacon cheeseburger with all the fixins.

  • Trolly Stop - 111 S Howe St, Southport, NC 28461
With a handful of locations across North Carolina, Trolly Stop is famous for their hot dogs. They offer all-beef hot dogs, turkey franks and even vegetarian dogs, with all the toppings you could possibly imagine. But Trolly Stop also makes perfect hamburgers and cheeseburgers too. And hey, if you can't decide whether you want a hot dog or hamburger, nobody's going to stop you from getting one of each!

  • Fat Andy's Burgers - 4655 Long Beach Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461
There's just something about an old-school burger shack like Fat Andy's Burgers that can't be beat. This local favorite serves up next-level burgers from a tiny, unassuming shack with a scattering of picnic tables outside. The burgers are made to order with 100% ground chuck, and the hand-cut French fries that come with it are some of the best in town.

  • Locals Restaurant - 832 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461
You'll find no shortage of classic American comfort food at Locals Restaurant, a traditional family diner that lives up to its name as a local hangout spot. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and their burgers are cooked to perfection and topped American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and onion, and served with your side of choice. And if you're in the mood to try something different, check out the shrimp burger or oyster burger.

  • The Saucy Southerner - 503 N Howe St, Southport, NC 28461
A great local breakfast and lunch spot specializing in mouth-watering Southern home cooking, The Saucy Southerner has quickly become one of Southport's go-to destinations for a great burger. The Saucy Goat Burger — topped with fried green tomato, lettuce, goat cheese and pepper jelly on a grilled brioche bun — is a real highlight of the lunch menu. The Creamy Patty Melt is another sure-fire winner, and the Saint George provides an excellent vegetarian option.
