Just footsteps from all the shops and eateries in Downtown Southport, Southport Waterfront Park offers one of the best sunrise views in town. The park spans 9 acres and is within walking distance of many Southport homes for sale. Along with a picturesque vista that offers an opportunity to watch the sun rise over the Cape Fear River, the park also includes a fishing pier, picnic shelters, grassy play areas, and waterfront paths.

Located in the Atlantic Ocean on the east side of the Cape Fear River, Bald Head Island is a spectacular place to watch the sun rise and set. There are several great piers in the Southport Area, but Sunset Beach Pier is both the longest and the southernmost. It stretches 900 feet into the surf, making it a favorite destination for anglers and sightseers alike. The sunrises are beautiful here, and as you night have guessed from the name, the sunsets aren't too shabby either! Open hours on the pier vary by season, but it's usually open right around sunrise (which also happens to be a great time of day to wet a line). During the fall spot run, the pier is open 24-7.

  • Dutchman Creek - 4750 Fish Factory Rd SE, Southport, NC 28461
What better way to greet the day than aboard a kayak paddling through the creek's wetlands that crisscross the Southport area? Dutchman Creek Park is one of many great kayak launch sites in and around Southport, offering easy access to the Intracoastal Waterway and many connected waterways, all of which are simply stunning at sunrise and sunset.
