Festival by the SeaThere is a lot more to do this fall than going through the listings for Southport homes for sale. When you are ready to take a break from the search for your perfect home, you can catch your breath by attending the NC Festival by the Sea on October 26th and 27th. This is one of the most popular fall events in the area, and you won't want to be the only one in the neighborhood who stays home and misses out on the fun.

Arts, Crafts, and a Flair for Food

Arts and crafts are the foundations of the festival. You will find everything from seashell sculptures and knitted hats, to paintings and watercolors by the finest artists in Holden Beach. Shopping from the stands set up along the beach is a great way to support the local economy and pick up some unique gifts for your friends and family. The celebration is sponsored by the Greater Holden Beach Merchants Association including members Beaches n' Cream, Fantasy Isle, and Junebugs Bags & Boutique.

Welcome a Neighbor - Margaret Rudd

Everyone wants to have a good relationship with their neighbors. After all, you'll probably be living near each other for many years to come. National Good Neighbor Day on September 28 is the perfect opportunity to say hello to your new neighbors and make them feel welcome and at home.

National Good Neighbor Day was made official in 1978 to celebrate the bonds of communities, neighborhoods, and family that keep us all together. So when you see Southport homes for sale in your area, you can start making a plan to welcome your new neighbors. Our REALTORS® suggest trying one of these thoughtful gestures to break the ice.

  • Stop by and introduce yourself. You could bring the rest of the family or a few other neighbors with you too. You may or may not become fast friends, but taking the time to say hello will start your relationship off on the right foot.

Buying a House - Walkability
Deciding to buy a home is a huge step, and along with that choice comes the decision of where you want to live. Picking a geographic location is one thing, but deciding on the type of neighborhood you want to call home is equally important. While some home buyers prefer to live in the suburbs or even a rural area where commuting is the norm, the walkability of a neighborhood is becoming a more important factor to many. Our REALTORS® can help you pinpoint Brunswick County communities that are more walkable and show you area neighborhoods that fit your lifestyle.

Why Walkability Matters?

While a walkable neighborhood isn't ideal for everyone, a community that promotes getting out on foot certainly offers plenty of benefits. Perhaps one of the most apparent advantages of walking versus driving is the boost it provides for your health. Walking provides exercise that helps keep the extra pounds off, promotes good circulation, keeps muscles toned, and provides a fresh intake of air for your respiratory system.
