George Brake

Chief Financial Officer, Relocation Director, Broker-in-Charge

George Brake is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Relocation Director, and a managing broker for Margaret Rudd & Associates, Inc., REALTORS®.  As CFO, George oversees the firm's corporate finances and sits on the Board of Directors. As Relocation Director, he works with other Leading Real Estate Companies of the World® companies to place referrals and assist clients in finding real estate assistance anywhere in the world. As a managing broker, he is Broker-in-Charge and manager of the 1023 N. Howe Street office location in Southport, North Carolina.

George believes in the “work hard, play hard” mantra, identifying fun, adventure, and family as his core values. He believes the office should be a fun place to work, work should enable great adventures, and family is, above all, the reason for work and play. In addition to his day-to-day real estate responsibilities, George is active with the local Chamber of Commerce, sitting on the US Open King Mackerel Board of Directors since 2009, as well as serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2016 to 2019. He serves as Scoutmaster for a girls’ Boy Scouts of America (BSA) troop, as well as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the local boys’ BSA troop. He currently serves as
Treasurer for his neighborhood Homeowners Association and for his Rotary club.

He holds several professional certifications, including Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CRB), Graduate, Realtor® Institute (GRI), and e-Pro Internet Professional (ePro).

George was born in Winston-Salem and grew up in New Bern, North Carolina. He served in the US Army, spending most of his time at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville before attending East Carolina University in Greenville, NC where he graduated with a BA in 1998. He received his teaching certification in 2003 from UNC-Wilmington, while working in rental maintenance for Margaret Rudd & Associates, Inc., REALTORS®. In 2006, he earned his Broker’s license and joined the company again in 2008 after teaching at South Brunswick High School
for 5 years.

George is married to his wife of 26 years, Karen, whom he met during his time at East Carolina. They share 2 children, Zach and Hannah, and 2 dogs, Ladybug and Fritz. He enjoys getting outside, whether camping, boating, or doing yardwork, and is always up for a good concert (maybe even a bad one). If he’s stuck indoors, you’ll likely find him cooking, PC gaming or planning their next trip.
